The Studio
The dining room/studio has become the heart of the house for me. With all four sides leading to other parts of the house, I can sit at my table and watch the sun pass through from one room to the next as I work. It's absolutely wonderful.

The walls are decorated with my mother's photographs - black & white and sepia-toned far away places, Guatemalan women in their colorful garb - I constantly turn to them for inspiration. I've turned the side table into a bookshelf/notions area, where all of my little oddities sit (like Mason jars full of charms and buttons, local hand-picked cotton in bags, guinea feathers from my parent's farm.... everything has a possibility in my mind). I've turned a hall closet next to the dining room into my fabric Mecca.

I really am that organized. It's only during the making of a purse or project that the studio looks like it's been hit by a tornado. Before I start a project, or when I finish one, I always, ALWAYS have to put everything back in it's place and start anew. It's a compulsive thing.

Another important part of the studio is my inspiration board, which is covered with art & pictures from/of my nieces and nephew, a picture of my mom and dad (aren't they cute?), and my dog, Reese; items from my travels (Prague/Praha is tied with Venice and the Galapagos - and about 10 other places - as my favorite travel destination); and in the top left corner, a picture of Walt Disney, a man who once said,
"Somehow I can't believe there are any heights that can't be scaled
by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true.
This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C's.
They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, Constancy and
the greatest of all these is Confidence.
When you believe a thing, believe it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably."
